Tori Amos – Rattlesnakes

Thursday 12 January 2012

The best way I could describe it as is ‘gentle’ and ‘supportive.’ I find this song quite beautiful and so I share it with the (corrected) lyrics below.

Jodie wears a hat although it hasn’t rained for six days
she says a girl needs a gun these days
hey on account of those rattlesnakes
she looks like Eve Marie Saint in on the waterfront
she reads Simone de Beauvoir in her American circumstance

she’s less than sure if her heart has come to stay in San Jose
and her never-born child haunts her now
as she speeds down the freeway
as she tries her luck with the traffic police
out of boredom more than spite
she never finds no trouble, she tries too hard
she’s oblivious despite herself

she looks like Eve Marie Saint in on the waterfront
she says, all she needs is therapy
all you need is love, is all you need

Jodie never sleeps ’cause there are always needles in the hay
she says a girl needs a gun these days
hey on account of those rattlesnakes
she looks like Eve Marie Saint in on the waterfront
she reads Simone de Beauvoir in her American circumstance
her heart’s like crazy paving
upside down and back to front
she says oh, it’s so hard to love
when love was your great disappointment

kill all those rattlesnakes
she says a girl needs a gun these day hey oh uh oh
a girl needs a gun these days on account of those rattlesnakes

A brilliant talk about the shift in global power and a necessity to rise to the new paradigm of interdependence.

The Moses Code

Tuesday 10 January 2012

Beautiful documentary.

… and a few words…

Each child born has at birth, a Bowl of perfect light.
If he tends to that light, it will grow in strength and he can do all things – swim with the sharks, fly with the birds,
know and understand all things.

If however, he becomes envious or jealous he drops a stone into his Bowl of Light and some of the light goes out. Light and stone cannot hold the same space.

If he continues to put stones in the Bowl of Light, the light will go out and he will become like a stone. A stone does not grow, nor does it move.

If at any time he tires of being a stone, all he needs to do is turn the bowl upside down and the stones will fall away, and the Light will grow once more.

Happy New Year

Wednesday 4 January 2012

Happy New Year to us all. I’d like to share some words that I found quite relevant at this time of reflection and new beginnings.

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company…a church…a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you. We are in charge of our attitudes.”

A quick one

Thursday 8 December 2011

I just feel the need to comment… on the nature of humanity. I won’t pretend for a moment that ‘I understand it’ – I know I could spend infinite lifetimes and always miss the point by trying to understand it anyway!

But I will say – human nature – can seem… fragile? Perhaps no word will suffice. Beautiful is the best stab in the dark that I could get. And that works for me. Beautiful encapsulates the journey we are on, individually and collectively. In the unspoken – in the quiet observation of the fabric of existence – of the isness of all that presents itself to us as the coherent oneness we perceive and swim in daily.

There’s a quiet joy of this knowing – that a very obvious secret plays its important role in the fabric of existence.

Life is beautiful.

People are beautiful.

They certainly are one – even if language seems to hold those statements apart, tricking the mind to thinking they are independent of one another.

Until The Last. From the album “A Chorus Of Storytellers.” Isn’t that what we are? Here to share a beautiful story – and in sharing it, to offer a more clearer view of ourselves, of love and the infinite. Each story is a gift, and we’re free to choose how to embrace it, how to travel with it, and where to send it when the form dissolves into the next birth of the next form.

That is all… goodnight all… well… goodnight and I leave you with this:

Dear Me

Thursday 8 December 2011

Hello.

Yes I’m talking to you.

Soon, I will speak with my voice and celebrate in the ethos of the title of this blog.

Soon, and that soon speaks about a time not very far away.

If you find this funny, or better, can connect with it because you’ve done it (like I have countless times)…
